Max Verstappen (Red Bull) became F1 world champion for the third time in a row in Qatar thanks to the off-track of teammate Sergio Perez, second in the World Championship standings, in the sprint race.

The Dutchman second in the Sprint

Oscar Piastri (McLaren) won the sprint race of the Formula 1 Qatar GP, ahead of Max Verstappen. The Dutchman from Red Bull thus became world champion for the third time in a row with six races remaining in the season. The second McLaren with Lando Norris was also on the podium. Sixth and seventh place for the Ferraris of Sainz and Leclerc.

“Incredible feeling after a fantastic season”

«It’s a fantastic feeling, we had an incredible season. I am proud to be part of this team. We will try to do the best we can in the future too.” These are Max Verstappen’s first words after the sprint race in Qatar which crowned him world champion for the third consecutive time. «Today’s race was fun even with the many safety cars, I’m very happy – he continued – Piastri had a great race, especially because he had medium tyres. I thought about going to get him but I couldn’t.”
