The rock caves of Verzino are among the sites to discover included in the autumn 2025 FAI days. The cavities that open on four levels, under the ancient Byzantine-era district of Santa Caterina, connected to each other by paths and steps cut into the rock, have in fact been included among the 700 places to visit tomorrow and Sunday.

Together with the suggestive rock settlement overlooking the valley of the Vitravo river, the program developed thanks to the collaboration between the Municipality of Verzino, the Region, the section of S. Severina and Crotone del Fai, the Verzino Adventure association, extends the areas to be discovered to the historic centre, with the seventeenth-century ducal palace, today the seat of the Municipality; the church of Santa Maria Assunta built at the end of the seventeenth century on a thirteenth century church, the Museum of ancient crafts and peasant civilization which houses an ancient oil mill and a millstone inside. In the naturalistic context of the area, the waterfalls and the “vulli” of the Vitravo river stand out as well as the karst caves “Le Grave”. To act as guides,

tomorrow and Sunday, the guests, together with the Fai guides, will be the students of the Verzino comprehensive institute. Two free buses have been made available by the Region; they will leave for the center of the hinterland from the Crotone bus station at 9 and 9.30 on Saturday and Sunday.
