“Siderno, awarded the title of “City that reads”, is a hotbed of talent in the field of culture. It is with great satisfaction that we welcome the news of the 2024 Premio Strega Giovani awarded to our fellow citizen Federica Pitonewinner for the best review of the novel “Cose che non si narrato”, published by Einaudi”. This is what we read in a press release from the Municipality.

“A very talented writer, Federica Pitone is a third grade student at the “Zaleuco” scientific high school in Locri led by the director Carmela Rita Serafino (school that participated in the “Strega” for the first time) and, also thanks to the passion that the teacher was able to convey to her Rossella Fontana (also our fellow citizen) has already shown her abilities – continues the note – by winning, last May 11th, the prize reserved for works written in the “Beyond the Pillars of Hercules” competition announced by the foundation of the same name, which delivered during the charity match in favor of the precision medicine laboratory, played between the Italian National Actors Team and the selection of old glories of Calabrian football “Le Colonne d'Ercole”. In the “Art” section of the same competition, the prize was won by Sofia Marcellino, another student from Siderno from “Zaleuco”.

We continue to invest in culture, re-proposing the candidacy for the title of “City that reads” for the next two years, and the organization of events, including the Book and Comics Festival as part of the “Siderno for reading” project , so that Federica's success is the first of a long series and above all serves to instill a passion for literature in an ever-increasing number of fellow citizens of all ages”.
