A fire has been raging for a few hours in an area on the border between the municipalities of Santa Maria del Cedro and Grisolia, in the Cosentino area. The flames, fueled by the strong heat and wind, move rapidly along some hillsides where some houses and the cemetery of the historic center of Santa Maria del Cedro are located.
The fire is destroying dry vegetation and some olive trees. A team of firefighters from the Scalea detachment and a helicopter from the regional fire prevention system intervened to put out the flames. Operations are underway to secure homes and people near the fire.
