Aerial firefighting vehicles have been in action since this morning to put out a large forest fire that has been affecting a mountain area of the Pollino National Park in the municipality of Tortora, in the Cosentino area, for over 48 hours.

From what we have learned, the fire is affecting a particularly impervious area characterized by vegetation and tall trees.
Only this morning was it possible to divert the Canadairs of the forest firefighting fleet to this emergency. Calabria Verde teams also on site coordinated by a Director of Fire Extinguishing Operations (Dos).
Reports from residents
According to what some residents in the area reported, the largest mountain area which also includes neighboring Basilicata has been affected by fires for at least five days.
