First place of the “Inclusive Park” 2025 award, for the Marine Protected Area Capo Milazzo During the ceremony held today in the council hall of Palazzo Valentini (metropolitan city of Rome) organized by Universe in collaboration with Fiaba and Federparchi. The protected area Mamertine has distinguished itself more through concrete initiatives in favor of accessibility and usability for people with disabilities and reduced mobility.
The award ceremony was held within the XVI edition of the photographic competition dedicated to the protected areas promoted by Fondazione Univerde, in the presence of the Minister of the Environment Pichetto Fratin, the president of Federparchi Luca Santini, the president of UNVERDE Alfonso Pecoraro Scanio, former Minister of the Environment and the Agricultural and Forestry Policies and the deputy mayor of the city of Rome, the prize was collected by Ivana Bonaccorsi, member of the Board of Directors.
The reasons that contributed to the victory of the first prize are the result of several projects recently implemented: The “Lab of Lory” sea roomwhich also allows those who cannot immerse themselves to see the seabed of Capo Milazzo; laboratory, awareness and environmental education activities within the barracks, an inclusive park, without architectural barriers; the purchase of an electric vehicle, used to facilitate visitors with reduced mobility; The numerous training and raising activities to the theme of sustainability and inclusiveness, carried out in collaboration with the local schools.
