“Three years after the signing of the Framework Agreement of 14 March 2022 between the Calabria Region and the trade union organizations, nothing agreed was actually carried out. That agreement, which provided for the strengthening of the economic treatment of the staff/LPU stabilized, unfortunately proved to be a lack of promise.
Despite the permanent stabilization, thousands of workers and workers continue to live in conditions of economic precariousness, relegated to insufficient part-time contracts to guarantee a dignified existence, let alone a pension. The municipalities, many of which are mountain and in strong economic difficulty, do not have the resources to increase the contractual hours of these employees, without which they would not even be able to ensure essential services to citizenship. ” Davide Tavernise.
“In the meantime, the Region has significantly reduced the funds intended for the sector: over one million less for 2024 and more than four million euros less for each of the years 2025 and 2026. A very serious decision, in contradiction with the provisions of the regional agreement itself, which provided for the use of economies deriving from retirements or escapes for the increase in the working hours still in service.
We have repeatedly asked for a meeting to the president Occhiuto to discuss structural and sustainable solutions, but our request has remained unanswered. To support it, in recent months, there were also many municipalities and mayors with official resolutions, which ask the Region to explain why the agreement signed with the vice president Princi and the director Cosentino has been disregarded.
The proposal to activate inter -municipal mobility, so that workers can be redistributed in a functional way even in small towns – as in the emblematic case of San Lorenzo Bellizzi, where the staff are already falling – it still remains unheard.
Today we strongly ask President Roberto Occhiuto and the entire regional council to get out of silence and take on his responsibilities. It is necessary to restore the planned resources, activate mobility tools and really support those municipalities that, without these workers, could not even guarantee minimum services.
There is no more time to waste. This is a social and employment problem that cannot be further postponed “.
