Starting from Monday 13 October the night helicopter rescue service will be fully operational in Cassano All’Ionio. The activation follows the signing of the protocol which took place last July between the Municipality of Cassano All’Ionio, the Provincial Health Authority of Cosenza, the Calabria Region and Elitaliana, which had authorized the use of the “Pietro Toscano” municipal stadium as a night landing point for the helicopter rescue.
The service represents a crucial piece in the emergency-urgency system, guaranteeing the Cassanese community and the entire district greater timeliness of intervention even at night, in critical situations in which the speed of rescue can make the difference between life and death.
Another good news that follows that which arrived in early October when the Sibari blood sampling point was reactivated: an initiative, also the result of the collaboration between the Municipality, Asp and District, which had allowed the carrying out of blood chemistry tests on site, according to an agreement started in 2006 and then interrupted for safety reasons in the Covid years.
«With the launch of the night helicopter rescue – declared the mayor Gianpaolo Iacobini – Cassano is taking a big step towards healthcare that is closer to people’s real needs. It is a result of concrete institutional synergy, which translates into greater safety for our citizens. We will continue to work so that every area of our vast territory is increasingly protected and efficient in essential services.”
