After filming Christopher Nolan’s colossal “The Odyssey” last spring, the Aeolian Islands once again become an excellent film set. In fact, on the occasion of the “Professional Cinema Days” in Sorrento, Disney Italia opened the presentation of the upcoming titles with a preview dedicated to “Avatar: Fire and Ashes”, the third chapter of the saga directed by James Cameron, expected in Italian cinemas on 17 December 2025. The announcement was accompanied by a special content shot on the island of Stromboli, chosen as the setting for the promotional video of the film. The project transformed the Sciara del Fuoco into an impressive natural theatre: using a sophisticated aerial video mapping system, the iconic “A” of Avatar was projected at approximately 800 meters high on a surface of over 900 square metres. It is an ideal environment for projects that intend to combine nature, art and technological innovation. An opportunity that helps tell the world about the extraordinary nature of the Aeolian Islands and their vocation for hosting quality initiatives.
