From Panatta to Sinner, from Adriano to Jannik: 48 years later Italy wins a Grand Slam tournament

1976-2024. A long journey that lasted 48 years. In Paris in 1976 one of the best interpreters of the red clay of the time triumphed. Adriano Panatta gave Italy the victory at Roland Garros.

Today, 48 years later, Italy returns to win a Grand Slam tournament. He does it with a 22 year old boy from South Tyrol, that Jannik Sinner capable of forging ahead and winning the Australian Open at 22 years old. An extraordinary feat that came at the end of a very tough match against Medvedev. A victory that crowns the journey of great work and sacrifice undertaken by the Italian team, by its coaches Cahill and Vagnozzi. A victory that, unquestionably, will be the driving force behind a movement, such as that of Italian tennis, which has been growing exponentially for some years.
