There is also a young Sicilian artist among the winners of the Vincenzo Crocitti International Award, which identifies the talents, training and careers of those who leave their mark in the culture and entertainment sector. The event, conceived by Francesco Fiumarella and dedicated to the great Roman actor – interpreter of Alberto Sordi’s son in the cult film “A small bourgeois” – saw among the winners of the thirteenth edition Floriana Diluciano from Pachina, born in 1996, awarded as emerging actress.
In the same ceremony – recently broadcast in live streaming – a tribute was also paid to the Syracuse actor and comedian Dario Bandiera, among the career professionals. An award, the Crocitti, followed on social media since the difficult years of Covid.
The recognition and emotion of the award
«It was a really nice surprise – says Diluciano – which also allowed me to find those who had received the prize during the pandemic period. In all these years Francesco has supported me a lot and has carefully followed my path, so I am particularly proud that he has decided to valorise me as a debut actress.”
A victory welcomed with enthusiasm in his hometown: «At the news of the award, many people congratulated my father, but also my old teachers, both in acting and at school, expressed their joy for this recognition».
Beginnings and theatrical training
Actress of the Teatro della Verità company of Sesto San Giovanni, Floriana began her artistic career at Sebastiano Cimino’s Teatro Giovane. «While I was in high school I saw a poster for a theater course on a bulletin board. In my third year of high school I decided to take this path; but it was from the fourth onwards that the real training began. On the fifth I met the company, which has been bringing theater to Pachino since 1968.”
With Teatro Giovane, between 2018 and 2019, she attempted important texts such as “The imaginary invalid” by Moliere, “The housekeeper” And “The handsome Antonio” by Vitaliano Brancati and Pirandello’s masterpieces “The Rattle Cap” And “The other son”. With “The housekeeper” And “The Day of the Owl” by Leonardo Sciascia participated with Cimino in the Southernmost Prize in Tunis.
Between theatre, cinema and academia
Between 2020 and 2021 he was part of the cast of the Gisella Calì show “Colapesce – The legend on the island”at the Capopassero fortress, and collaborated with the comic duo Falsi d’autore for the piece “It’s not a bluff”directed by Salvo Di Mari. He also participated in Giuseppe Calanna’s short films “2 items” And “Aleunab – On the way home”and the video of “Summer decree”a song by the Catanian singer-songwriter Luigi Di Pietro, directed by Gabriele Vitale.
From 2021 to 2023 she studied at the Zucchi Academy – Profession Actor, directed in Rome by the actor Augusto Zucchi, who directed her in the play “The Hour of the Fly”taken from the monologues of Eduardo Pavlovski. «It was the most beautiful period – he remembers – despite all the difficulties. Augusto managed to give me a lot, changing my way of seeing acting.”
From 2023 to 2024, with the Teatro della Verità, Floriana was directed by Mirko Lanfredini in the lyrics “Condominium meeting” (Colliani), “Antigone” (Sophocles) e “A Christmas Carol” (Dickens). After the commercial for the Italian launch of the series “The Traitors” on Prime Video, the artist will be involved in new projects that will be announced soon.
