The mayor of Crotone Vincenzo Voce received, during a ceremony held in Piazza Piave, the honorary citizenship of Verbicaro (CS).
The honor given to him by the mayor Francesco Silvestri marks a further link between Verbicaro and Crotone.
In the reasons for the resolution of the City Council we read: “Mayor Voce was able to interpret the feeling of humanity and solidarity of the entire Crotone community in the days of the Steccato di Cutro tragedy”
In fact, as Mayor Voce recalled in his speech, Verbicaro was the birthplace of mgr. Pietro Raimondiunforgettable bishop of Crotone, for whom the beatification process was opened and last year the city of Crotone offered the oil for the votive lamp of the Madonna delle Grazie, patron saint of Verbicaro.
“A bond between Verbicaro and Crotone that was born over time, which was strengthened with last year's ceremony and which today is consolidated with the honorary citizenship that is conferred on me” said Mayor Voce.
“I am moved and grateful for this recognition, today is one of the best days of my life, not only political and administrative” added Voce.
“A community is not something indefinite. It is made up of people who, with their industriousness, their daily contribution, with their sense of belonging, contribute to keeping the concept and authentic meaning alive. Communities that are also called to meet. And today, through this beautiful gesture, our communities renew their bond of friendship and sharing” concluded Voce.
