From Villafranca Tirrena a special portrait for the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella. It was created by the artist Domenico Santangelo, in collaboration with his granddaughter Giulia Saia, who is also passionate about art, painting and drawing. The Head of State appreciated the gift received and instructed the director of the secretariat, Simone Guerrini, to draft a letter to express his thanks for the portrait dedicated to him. In turn, the painting was delivered briefly to Rome, at the Quirinale, on September 28th, to the president’s security service. On that same date, Mattarella was on an official visit to Germany. The oil on canvas work was created by Santangelo together with his niece, who took care of the details and in particular the writing “Viva la Repubblica” in the background. Over the years, the Villafranche artist has composed numerous portraits and paintings for people of national fame, always receiving admiration.
