Calabria is the origin, the place where the trucks stopped which blocked Italy. A story that is not yet closed. Mario Pansini, leader of Fedralog, talks about the government decree which has not resolved the conflicts. Indeed, it risks turning into a new stumbling block. The hauliers are not satisfied with the approved measures. The suspension of the protest now remains pending next Tuesday’s meeting at the Ministry with Matteo Salvini. «We take note of the contents of the fuel decree but, frankly, it is not what we expected», explains Pansini. The request is precise: tax relief, not new indistinct transfers. If the discussion does not provide sufficient answers, he announces drastic countermeasures: “The trucks are ready to leave: this time we will go to Rome.” The dispute concerns the very stability of transport companies, caught between the cost of diesel and management costs which leave increasingly less favorable margins. For Pansini, lightening the tax burden also means reducing the risk that someone, in order to remain on the market, ends up working illegally. October 27th will therefore be a decisive day. The discussion with the government will have to clarify whether the conditions exist to avoid a new escalation of the protest.
