Funds for the theaters of the capitals. Cry of alarm from Lamezia: «Discriminate against other cities»

The “Theatres in Capitals” program must be changed. The heartfelt appeal is from Francesco Grandinetti who addresses the president of the Occhiuto Region directly, asking to extend the funding provided for in the regional program also to theaters and cultural entities which, although not falling within the capitals, represent numerous, active and central communities for Calabria. “We need to overcome this division between Serie A cities and Serie B cities – states Grandinetti – not only in culture, but also in healthcare, in universities, in public services”. The regional program “Theatres in Capitals” in fact provides for funds automatically allocated to the capital cities, therefore Catanzaro, Cosenza, Reggio, Vibo and Crotone, only for their status as capitals and not for “more historic theatres”, “more active theatres”, “theaters with larger audiences”. A criterion, stigmatizes the exponent of the Democratic Party, «which excludes a priori all other realities, regardless of their cultural value or their history. Yet there are cities that are not capitals, but which have an equal or greater weight due to population, geographical position, transport network, cultural ferment and economic activity: Lamezia Terme is among these.
