At the starting line “Out of Field 5”the itinerant film promotion project organized by Rete Cinema Calabria aimed at valorising independent Italian auteur cinema and the artistic and architectural heritage of the area.

The theme of this year – “Cinema as Home” – investigates the main Historic Houses in Calabria, recognized by the Ministry in the itineraries of Italian Historic Houses, located in their respective municipalities, the ideal setting in which to carry out the project’s events.

Complex programs that include guided tours, meetings, debates, screenings and in-depth workshops with experts in the film sector and scholars of art history and architecture; screenings of films, documentaries and short films from Italian arthouse cinema, book presentations and other collateral activities.

Three homes will host the activities of the fifth edition of Fuori Campo: Palazzo Grisolia in Cosenza, Villa Cefaly Pandolphi in Acconia di Curinga (Cz), Palazzo Cybo Malaspina in Aiello Calabro (Cs).

An edition attributable to a “feminine” cinema, which is increasingly redefining the cinematographic panorama, with works representing a personal gaze, which tell in an original and at times revolutionary way, stories that do not follow the rigid rules in which cinematic gazes are often imprisoned. Three established directors – Antonietta De Lillo, Elettra Bisogno and Roberta Torre – will dialogue with the public and journalists.

It starts on Friday 7 November from Cosenza, where, in via della Giostra Vecchia, stands Palazzo Grisolia, one of the oldest in the historic centre.

The appointment for those who want to learn more about the history of a part of the ancient city is in Piazza President of ADSI Calabria Maria Elisabetta Taccone.

Followed by a themed musical interlude and the presentation of the Audio Video Technological Center of the Cosenza Conservatory by the director M° Francesco Perri.

At 4.50 pm there will be a screening of the video by Luigi Simone Veneziano “Echoes”, followed by the report by the architect Argia Morcavallo entitled “Giostra Vecchia. Scenography of a noble neighbourhood”.

At 5.30 pm the meeting with Antonietta De Lillo, well-known director and screenwriter, author of numerous documentaries and video portraits, selected and awarded at various international festivals, and feature films. Suffice it to mention “The Rest of Nothing” (2004), “Article 20”, episode of the film “All Human Rights for All” (2008), “The Madwoman Next Door – Conversation with Alda Merini” (2013), “Today Together Tomorrow Also” (2015), awarded with the special Silver Ribbon in 2016, “Mr. Rotpeter” (2017). Journalist Paola Abenavoli will talk to her.

The discussion with De Lillo will continue at the Cinema Campus Unical where, at 8.00 pm, the debate on the topic “Independent cinema and distribution” will be held.

At 8.30 pm the screening of the film “The Eye of the Hen. Self-portrait of Antonietta De Lillo”, presented in 2024 at the 81st Venice Film Festival, in which it tells the singular legal story linked to the film, preceded by a brief introduction.
