The additional section of the Gallico-Gambarie provincial road has been completed, a strategic work for the metropolitan road system which definitively closes the original project with the construction of the last two viaducts. The opening to traffic is scheduled for Saturday.
A new segment that eliminates curves and traffic lights
The completed section measures approximately 600 meters and includes two large viaducts, for a total length of approximately 180 meters and a height of up to 25 metres. The new connection eliminates the last tight curves and slowdowns caused by traffic lights for alternate transit, further reducing travel times between the northern outskirts of Reggio Calabria and the mountain area of Gambarie.
Within a few days the asphalt mat and the horizontal signs will be completed, allowing the definitive decommissioning of the construction site and full usability of the road.

Satisfaction on the part of the mayor of the Metropolitan City Giuseppe Falcomatà: «Excellent news: the additional section of the GaGa is also finally complete. One of the most important road projects in Southern Italy will be completed in the next few days. Finally the construction site is gone and no more traffic lights, for an even smoother, more comfortable and safer journey.”
The mayor thanked the technicians, the contractor, bodies, committees and citizens who contributed to the realization of the work: «The sea and the mountains are increasingly closer. This too is done!
