«With the Green Islands project, 200 million of the Pnrr have been allocated to interventions on energy, water, sustainable transport and waste management for 19 small islands. We are talking about 135 projects already approved and under construction, of which 13 municipalities are beneficiaries, including Lipari.” Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, Minister of the Environment, said this in a video message to the States General of the smaller islands, organized by the Minister for Marine Policies Nello Musumeci and which ends today.

«The challenge – added Pichetto Fratin – is to find a virtuous balance between economic growth and protection. We need a common commitment to enhance the blue economy and sustainable development. We must intervene on critical issues, such as depopulation and we must do so immediately, given that climate change clearly affects natural systems. We are open with trust and without ideologies to new technologies that can help us win the challenge of efficiency on issues such as water. We follow a strategy for the connection between small islands and marine protected areas.”

«Within 15 days the bill on the smaller islands will be in the Council of Ministers». This was said by the Minister of Regional Affairs, Roberto Calderoli, who spoke in Lipari.

The bill is also signed by the Minister of Maritime Policies, Nello Musumeci. «The project has been developed in recent years and we managed to find 25 million over the three-year period to put aside in a special fund, because at present there is only 200 thousand euros. Now there is even a further rush of other ministers to make a contribution regarding subjects that were not previously included. The ideas from these three days of work in Lipari could be used for further contents of the bill”.
