Flights at Munich airport were suspended after two pilots reported sightings of a suspected drone shortly after 9am, a police spokeswoman said. “In coordination with German air traffic control, the safety authorities have therefore decided to close the runways,” the spokesperson said, adding that “it is not possible to say how long the closure will last.”
It didn’t matter much, the activities resumed after about an hour. A police helicopter was deployed to search for possible drones, said the spokesperson for the Federal Police at the airport, but nothing was found. The temporary closure has impacted flight operations. Several flights were diverted to Stuttgart, Nuremberg and Frankfurt. Spiegel writes it.
