The Sicilian Region dissolved the Giardini Naxos municipal council this afternoon. The decree was signed by the president of the Region Renato Schifani and by the councilor for local authorities Andrea Messinawho took note of the report sent on January 2 by the official Domenico Mastrolembo, commissioner ad acta for the approval of the 2023-2025 budget forecast, with which the failure to approve the financial instrument by the Council and the replacement of the commissioner himself was communicated. This led to the dissolution of the non-compliant municipal council and the simultaneous appointment of an extraordinary commissioner to replace it: the choice of Schifani and Messina fell on Cinzia Chirieleison, municipal secretary, who will replace the Garden Council until the renewal of the municipal bodies due to natural expiry, expected in 2025.
