In the night between 21 and 22 June, the carabinieri of the Taormina company arrested two young people from the Catania of 18 and 19 years, already known to the police, accused of aggravated theft and resistance to public officials.
Specifically, the soldiers of the Radiomobile rate, engaged in a control post, prepared for Giardini Naxos, sighted A car with lights off, arriving at sustained speed. The driver, at the sight of the military, instead of arresting the march at the ALT, accelerated giving himself to a precipitous escape. The military therefore activated the immediate research of the vehicle that managed to intercept, shortly after, with the two subjects on board.
The investigations revealed that the stopped car was stolen, just before, in Giardini Naxos, which is why the carabinieri proceeded to arrest the two individuals, considered alleged authors of the theft.
At the outcome of the very direct rite, celebrated at the Court of Messina, on the account of the arrested, the judge, in validating the arrest made by the carabinieri, ordered the obligation to stay in the municipality of residence.
The car was returned to the legitimate owner.
