Microcredit and territorial development: the Enm model and its effectiveness in Calabria thanks to the synergy with the regional administration

The social impact of the activities of the National Authority for Microcredit in the Calabria Region took place at the Lameziaeuropa advanced service center. A comparison full of testimonies, data and visions, which highlighted the effectiveness of microcredit as a concrete tool for economic inclusion, occupation and social regeneration in the South and in the most fragile areas.

The official data relating to the national impact of the ENM in the two -year period 2023–2024: 6,245 funding provided, 10,173 jobs generated (thanks to an impact multiplier equal to 1.63), a reduction of 0.4% of the national employment gap and 188 million euros distributed to over 10,300 beneficiaries were presented. The action of the ENM also engraved on poverty, reducing 0.132% of the gap in terms of population and 1.4% in monetary terms. In Calabria, where the employment gap is among the highest in Italy (20.37%), the microcredit generated concrete impacts.

The national leaders of the National Authority for Microcredit presentation were present at the initiative: the Secretary General Riccardo Grazianowhich underlined how the microcredit tool is today a true active work policy, capable of generating measurable and inclusive impact and that we must continue to work in this direction, considering the remarkable results already obtained on the territories; the deputy secretary Giovanni Nicola Peswhich highlighted the transversality and diversification of the actions put in place by Enm and the need to strengthen the collection of data and the territorial presence to further improve quality and accessibility of the interventions; the councilor Mario La Torre, which highlighted the importance of the planning of the interventions, which cannot ignore the specificity and needs of the territories e from environmental, social and economic sustainability.

For the Calabria Region, the President of the Regional Council intervened Filippo Mancusowho spoke of microcredit as a tool to encourage citizens and build lasting development and attractiveness; the vice president of the junta Filippo Pietropaolowhich expressed the commitment of the Region to consolidate an ecosystem in favor of micro -enterprises, through the implementation of multiple initiatives, with particular regard to digitization and innovation and the general manager Paolo Praticòwhich reiterated the importance of calibrating the tools with a view to widespread entrepreneurial development, support for innovative start -ups and the enhancement of the internal areas.

The mayor of Lamezia Terme Mario Murone He thanked for choosing the city as the seat of the event, saying that the free accompaniment to self -employment is also a political gesture of proximity, equity and social justice. Murone also stressed that the Enm counter will soon be operational at the headquarters of the Municipality and that hopes for the opening of another point at Lameziaeuropa.

Particular attention was paid to “Yes I Start up Calabria”. The project manager Antonio Rispoli He underlined the strong social impact and human value, using the words of President Roberto Occhiuto, “An example of positive Calabria, which offers concrete opportunities and trust”. Rispoli has highlighted that the strength of the project was born from the synergy between Enm and the Calabria Region and that, Yes I start -up Calabria, free of charge, formed over 3,600 people and allowed 1198 companies. The difference was the model of ecosystem built: a network of public bodies, professionals and associations that guaranteed concrete support, even in the more peripheral areas, through a stable, accessible and inclusive tool, capable of generating trust, opportunity and real change in the territories.

The president of Unindustria Calabria Aldo Ferrara He underlined that promoting the birth of micro -enterprises also means strengthening the industrial system, because the network of the production economy expands and human capital is held.

The CEO of Fincalabra Alessandro Zanfino He reiterated the commitment made with the region to invest in the development of a partnership system, which favors, through quality services, who wants to do business, remembering the concrete results of the collaboration with Enm.

The President of the Order of Accountants of Lamezia Terme Giovannella Famularo He highlighted how the support of professionals can improve the effectiveness and sustainability of new companies.

The vice president of Anci Calabria Maria Grazia Vittimberga He recalled the role of municipalities as proximity sentinels and hoped for a stable network between region, local authorities, third sector entities and microcredit to reach each community.

The event, moderated by the journalist Francesca Traviersohas shown that microcredit, if well integrated with the territory and in close synergy with local administrations, represents not only an answer to economic vulnerability, but also an investment in inclusion, cohesion, autonomy and future of local communities.

The meeting, also valid as a accreditation session, participated over one hundred and fifty teachers qualified in the provision of the free accompanying paths to self -evidence, provided for by the Yes I Start up Calabria project.
