The most exciting moment of the day was undoubtedly when I handed the cup to Giulio Ciccone, the new pink jersey of the Giro d’Italia. Applause, smiles and flashes from the photographers captured the energy of a land that celebrates its excellence and welcomes every victory with great warmth. The finish line represented not only sporting success, but also the embrace of an entire community for its new pink jersey.
The Giro d’Italia in Calabria is not just a cycling competition: it is promotion of the territory, experiential tourism and valorisation of our traditions. Every kilometer covered by the runners told a story of Calabrian beauty and identity, showing the world the potential of our region.
I am proud of Calabria which has moved, which has welcomed and which has been able to leave its mark. This event confirms that our land is ready for great events, capable of uniting sport, culture, tourism and community in a single, unforgettable celebration”.
