Little by little, the dream he has nurtured since he was a child is taking shape. One could say one segment at a time, just like the ball he plays with and that has fascinated him since he was a child is also segmented. Julius Carofiglio he is living a moment of extraordinary happiness. In his life, school and basketball are about to mix.
The 16-year-old basketball player from Cosenza, in fact, will fly to the States in September because he won a scholarship that will allow him to enter one of the most important “high schools” in the Stars and Stripes Confederation. Born in 2007 – 193 centimeters tall and weighing 90 kilograms –, in the next 12 months, will study at the “Putnam Science Academy”, in Connecticut. A prestigious institute, four-time champion in the United States, which focuses on five basic aspects in the training of its student-athletes: individual development, teamwork, sportsmanship, respect and leadership. Principles that will be useful to Giulio in sports but also in everyday life.
To be ready for the appointment, the Bruzio basketball player is getting ready with his coach Manu Gallo and the athletic trainer Charles Aloe.
The student with a passion for basketball began playing in Micromega. And from that moment he immediately understood that the feeling with that ball was special. The call was too strong to be ignored. So he never stopped dedicating himself to practicing his favorite sport. In the last two seasons he moved to Roseto degli Abruzzi. With the “Roseto basketball academy” he participated in the Under 17 Eccellenza championship and in the C series. He also played in some international tournaments, including the Eybl, European youth basketball league, in which he opposed the strongest teams in Europe. During the off season, he then trained in Milan, in the Court Mln facility in Claudio Negri And Ashley Ravelli. He thus had the opportunity to compete with other high-level players.
Giulio never gives up basketball. Not even in the summer. It is no coincidence that in recent weeks he has signed up for various summer tournaments organized by the Italian Basketball Federation. He recently won an event in Reggio Calabria. He has earned his national pass but he won’t be there. Yes, because he will fly to America, hoping to make his dream take off.
