MESSINA – The official premiere of Racing City Group’s Messina was good, with the president and CEO, Justin Davis, and the vice president and general manager, Morris Pagniello, present in the stands to witness their new company. The Giallorossi struggled but scored their second consecutive victory at home, beating a tough CastrumFavara 2-1, who tried after a few minutes with Vaccaro, but shot high. The subsequent local conclusions of Clemente and Toure were also imprecise, while Roseti was blocked by Lauritano. The attacker redeemed himself in the 40th minute, when he headed Orlando’s cross from the left and allowed Messina to end the first half with the lead.
The second half opens with Vaccaro’s insidious right-footed shot, which goes wide, but it is the proof of the goal that arrives in the 5th minute, when Vaccaro himself, with a powerful left-footed shot from over 20 metres, beats Sorrentino. The draw seems to affect the Giallorossi and the second half continues at a slow pace. Messina tries to react, but in the 35th minute they are unlucky with Bombaci’s nice right-foot shot which hits the top corner. The locals’ forcing was rewarded in the 42nd minute: cross from the left by Toure and perfect header by Saverino, who made it 2-1. CastrumFavara throws itself forward, closes with ten men for the red card in Cannavacciuolo, but Messina resists, celebrates a victory that cancels the penalty and moves to 2 points in the standings.
