The soldiers of the Central Organized Crime Investigation Service and the Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza of Catanzaro, in coordination with the Operational Unit Investigation Unit of the Carabinieri of the Cosenza Provincial Command and in synergy with the flying squad of the Cosenza Police Headquarters, arrested the fugitive Alessio Ricco in Castrolibero, a leading exponent of the Scornaienchi family of Cetraro, an offshoot of the more well-known “Muto” gang. hegemon on that territory, in execution of an order for execution of imprisonment for execution of sentence, issued by the Public Prosecutor’s Office – Ordinary Court of Paola, from which he had escaped since 16 February 2024.
The operational intervention carried out is the result of targeted investigative activities, delegated by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Catanzaro to the Catanzaro Economic-Financial Police Unit, the ICO Central Service and the Cosenza Economic-Financial Police Unit, through which it was possible to identify the wanted man – multiple offenders with numerous police records for drug trafficking, resistance to a public official, theft, robbery and failure to comply with the provisions of the Authority, as well as arrested, in 2010, for armed criminal association, of a mafia type, dedicated to drug trafficking (Operation “IPPOCAMPO”) – during a meeting organized with some family members and to bring him to justice.
