Good start for Reggina, who beat Vibonese in the Coppa Italia Serie D. The Amaranth win 2-0. The two goals came in the first five minutes of play. The home team took the lead thanks to an own goal by Checa, triggered by a shot by Giuliodori (excellently served by Porcino with a cross from the left). The second goal came in the 5th minute. It was scored by Barranco, showing great composure in receiving a deep ball from Ragusa and scoring his first official goal on the Strait of Messina. The double lead was the reward for an excellent opening half hour by the Amaranth, who offered a performance of great substance.
Pergolizzi’s team held the field well and demonstrated great ability to put pressure on the opposing ball carriers. The midfielders Ba and Forciniti did very well in particular. The home team moved well as a team, despite eight new players out of the eleven in the starting lineup. There were also many changes compared to last season for Vibonese. Facciolo’s men suffered two blows from their opponents and came out on top in the distance. Reggina also had opportunities to increase their lead, but the rossoblù could have reopened the challenge. The two most important opportunities were two woodwork. One in the first half with Alagna, where Porcino saved everything with a decisive deflection. The other in the second half with a nice effort from Squillace.
