One person was shot by the Secret Service near the White House after opening fire. The police say so on social media. The lockdown of the presidential residence has been ordered while an event with Donald Trump is underway. According to journalists present at the White House, the Secret Service asked all the media present in the garden of the residence to return to the press room. The Secret Service explained that the man who shot him was shot by law enforcement officers near the Washington Monument, in an area crowded with tourists a few hundred meters from the White House.
The person’s condition and the circumstances surrounding the shooting at 15th Street and Independence Avenue were not released. The Secret Service has asked people to avoid the area while emergency crews intervene on site.
