It was August and on the seafront of San Ferdinando, near a nightclub, – according to what emerged from the investigations – a minor had hit a peer with a pointed and cutting weapon, which he had brought with him before the meeting.
The attack caused deep wounds, requiring emergency surgery at Polistena Hospital. Only thanks to the speed of medical treatment did the young victim manage to avoid more serious consequences.
The incident was reported by an acquaintance of the injured boy, who immediately contacted the Single Emergency Number. The call allowed the Police Department of Public Safety of Gioia Tauro to intervene promptly, providing first aid and collecting the first information useful for reconstructing the episode.
The subsequent investigations, conducted by the staff of the Gioia Tauro police station and coordinated by the Prosecutor’s Office at the Juvenile Court of Reggio Calabria, made it possible to identify the perpetrator of the stabbing.
The young man, in fact, left immediately after the incident, initially making his identification more complex. In light of the seriousness of the circumstantial framework and deeming it necessary to adopt measures to protect the community and the minor himself, the Judicial Authority ordered the precautionary measure of community placement. The seventeen-year-old was then accompanied to a specialized facility, where he will remain at the disposal of the competent authority.
