22 outpatient clinics at the Sibaritide hospital were inaugurated today. The opening took place in the presence of the president of the Calabria Region, Roberto Occhiuto, of the delegate commissioner of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers for healthcare construction of the Calabria Region, Claudio Moroni, and of the highest regional and local authorities.
The opening of the clinics represents the first step in the time-step activation process of the new hospital, according to a plan agreed with the Health Authority to allow the gradual transfer of activities from the current hospitals in Corigliano and Rossano.
Today marks the operational start of the new Sibaritide hospital and a path destined to progressively bring all healthcare activities to the new facility.
Straface: “A victory for our land”
“A historic achievement that restores dignity, future and essential services to an area that for too many years has paid a very high price in terms of the right to health”. The regional councilor for Social Policies and Welfare, Pasqualina Straface, expresses profound satisfaction on the day of the inauguration of the first 22 clinics of the new hospital of the Sybaritidea fundamental step that marks the beginning of the progressive transfer of health services to the new Insiti structure.
A result that crowns synergistic institutional work led by the Regional Council: “The operational start of this structure represents an extraordinary victory of institutional determination over the disinterest of the past. President Roberto Occhiuto has demonstrated pragmatic and courageous leadership, managing to unblock and complete a strategic work where for decades there had only been announcements, even overcoming serious attempts at intimidation and malicious attacks with the force of the State and legality”.
The beginning of the operation of the new health center closely touches on the political path and territorial commitment of councilor Straface, viscerally linked to the history of this work: “For those who, like me, have lived and supported this project from the first steps, today is a day of strong emotions. The genesis of the hospital Sybaritide has its roots in 2007; when in 2009 I led the municipal administration of Corigliano, we started a close and fruitful discussion with the then mayor of Rossano, Francesco Filareto. It was precisely through that institutional agreement between the two Municipalities that we contributed decisively to the identification of the strategic site of Insiti, the central area on which this modern garrison stands today. Seeing that design finally come to life and transform into rooms, clinics and care for citizens is the culmination of a long journey serving our community.”
The opening of the hospital also represents a fundamental hub for social policies and the welfare system of the entire Ionian belt: “Health protection is not an abstract concept, but the fundamental pillar on which the social cohesion of a territory is based. A cutting-edge health center like that of Insiti does not only mean excellent medicine and reduction of health migration, but it means giving concrete answers to the most fragile segments of the population, to families, to the elderly and to those in need of integrated assistance and proximity. Our commitment as a Welfare department will be constantly oriented towards ensuring that social and health policies go hand in hand, transforming the Sybaritide in a virtuous model of protection and social inclusion”.
