Thirty thousand euros, over two years, for each new hire in Sicily. Aid that can reach up to 40 thousand euros for women, those in their fifties and those over 50. This is one of the pillars of the January Budget, intended to encourage employment growth and reduce labor costs incurred by companies that hire on permanent contracts.

A measure already announced by the President of the Region, Renato Schifani, but which is now coming to life, thanks to the notice published on the institutional website of the Labor Department, headed by Nuccia Albano. On the table there are one hundred million (50 for 2025 and the same for 2026) of regional resources.

The beneficiaries are professionals and all businesses (micro, small, medium and large), unemployed young people, disadvantaged groups in the labor market, as well as the staff of companies in a state of insolvency crisis in the three-year period 2021-23 or which found in areas of industrial crisis.

The contribution is recognized to companies for new permanent hires or for the transformation of contracts from fixed-term to permanent, all carried out from 1 January to 31 December 2024. Residents and those domiciled in Sicily for at least six months, aged between between the ages of 18 and 65, also for apprenticeship contracts. In the case of new hires, workers must have been unemployed for at least three months.

A measure aimed not only at small but also at large companies which are outside the de minimis regime and which can therefore receive contributions exceeding 300 thousand euros in three years, coming from various financing sources.

This is why to know the details of the tender – that is, to know from which day companies will be able to submit applications on the platform – the Region will have to wait for authorization from the European Commission. Companies that operate in the social, education, training, conservation and valorisation of artistic, cultural and environmental heritage are also eligible.
