Yarden Bibas had been taken prisoner separately by his wife and children. The bodies of Shiri, Ariel and Kfir Bibas were returned in February as part of the ceasefire and the hostage agreement between Israel and Hamas. Yarden Bibas was released alive.
According to the IDF and the Shin Bet, Awad was also responsible for the bound of the citizens of Israeli-Stanitensi Gadi Haggai and Judih Weinstein during the assault on Nir Oz, together with the seizure of several Thai citizens taken hostage in Kibbutz.
