The third most watched Italian film in the world turns 30: “Il Postino”filmed in 1994 and nominated for 5 Oscars in 1996, represents the cinematic testament of Massimo Troisi: the last work, the most successful and the most poetic of the actor and director who died at just 41 years old, shortly after filming ended. The island of Salina, which hosted the set of the film together with Procida, is ready to celebrate it like every year: from Friday 14th to Sunday 16th June the 13th edition of will take place Marefestival Salina Troisi Award, one of the most anticipated and prestigious events in the Aeolian archipelago, which opens the doors to the summer season with three days of cinema, culture, entertainment, moments dedicated to major current issues and national guests to commemorate the Neapolitan artist . Also for 2024 the patroness of the event, which in 2023 was sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, will be Maria Grazia Cucinotta, interpreter of the film: !An unmissable appointment in my diary – explains the actress – because I continue to travel the world and I realize that “Il Postino” has remained in the hearts of the people, in some countries they even show it in schools. When you happen to listen to the notes of the soundtrack by Luis Bacalov, bucolic, romantic, profound, love-filled scenes come to mind. Massimo is not dead, he lives through his works and every year we remember him on the island that he loved so much.”
