Controls by the forestry carabinieri and local law enforcement agencies as part of the “Focus ndrangheta” action, an activity specifically aimed at contrasting the phenomenon of wandering cattle in the San Giorgio Morgeto Park area. This problem, linked to local organized crime, was addressed with targeted and synergistic interventions between various forces, including the forestry carabinieri, the territorial stations of Cittanova and Molochio, the metropolitan police and the veterinary service of Aspdi Palmi.
The interventions led to referral of two individuals for illegal grazing and attack on transport safety. Furthermore, nine cattle without identification and health checks were captured and slaughtered, to ensure public and health safety. The operation also included the referral of three other individuals for various crimes related to the abandonment of animals and defacement of other people’s property, with administrative fines amounting to approximately 13 thousand euros.
These interventions demonstrate constant and determined action against environmental degradation and illegal activities linked to organized crime, aiming to protect the community and the park territory.
