Tenuta Rasocolmo opens its doors to artists and becomes a great art atelier. With the Artist’s Residency project, it will assign some of its spaces to welcome (free of charge, with a contribution towards any expenses) artists from all over Italy and abroad: an initiative that will transform some of the rooms of the residence into real own studios for the creation of sculptures and installations.

An ambitious project, curated by the Messina expert Mariateresa Zagone, a highly experienced art scholar, designed to create a space for work, research and reflection, to promote cultural exchanges and bring the world of the arts even closer to the people who they can admire the works while learning about the creative process that guides the artist’s creation. Year after year, Tenuta Rasocolmo will welcome different artists, all called to work on a thematic project and exhibit their works in the Estate’s Sculpture Park.

As regards the year 2025, the planning will focus on the link between the territory and the myth and its re-semanticisation: from Orion to the nymph Pelorias, from Neptune to Scylla and Charybdis, from Colapesce to Mata and Grifone, to Morgana, to the Sirens. The Strait of Messina, due to its specificity, its microclimatic and natural conditions, has been a place of myth and a source of inspiration for storytellers, poets and sailors from ancient times to today.

The announcement, which can be viewed on the website www.tenutarasocolmo.com/it/, is aimed at adult Italian and foreign artists who work in the field of sculpture and site-specific installation, without any distinction of techniques and materials which, however , they must be compatible with being positioned outside, in the open countryside and in a place near the sea beaten by winds and sun, willing to reside in the Rasocolmo Estate for the entire period assigned to them (maximum one week). At the end of the residency, each artist will donate the work created during or following the residency experience which will contribute to the formation of a collection of contemporary works.
