As part of the territorial control services aimed at searching for illegally held weapons, the Carabinieri of the Arena station have handed over a local agricultural entrepreneur to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Vibo Valentia in a state of freedom, held, at the state of the investigations, responsible for the crimes of receiving stolen goods and illegal possession of a common firearm.
The provision arose from investigations concluded following a house search, carried out pursuant to art. 41 of the TULPS., by the soldiers of the Arena Station with the support of the Calabria Helicopter Hunters Squadron, the Dinami Station and the Vibo Valentia Dog Unit, inside a farmhouse attributable to the suspect, located in the municipality of Dinami.
During the operations, the military found a compressed air rifle cal. 4.5, classified as a common firearm, held in the absence of any authorization.
Subsequent investigative investigations made it possible to ascertain that the weapon was the result of theft, reported in July 2022 at the Carabinieri Station of Certosa di Pavia.
The rifle was subjected to criminal seizure and made available to the Judicial Authority.
In the same context of crime prevention and combating activities in the provincial territory, the Carabinieri also intervened in the municipality of Polia, where they arrested a man for illicit cultivation of narcotic substances. On the afternoon of 30 June, the Carabinieri of the Polia Station, with the support of the soldiers of the Philadelphia Station and the Radiomobile Section of the Vibo Valentia Company, arrested, in flagrante delicto, a man held responsible for the illicit cultivation of narcotic substances.
The activity is part of the services for the prevention and repression of the phenomenon of the production of narcotic substances set up by the Army in the provincial territory. During a targeted observation and control service, carried out in the Fellà area of the municipality of Polia, the military surprised the subject while he was irrigating a cannabis plantation, cleverly hidden among the dense vegetation present in a rural area. The cultivation consisted of 187 plants.
Realizing the presence of the Carabinieri, the man attempted to flee, but was immediately caught and blocked by the officers. Once the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Vibo Valentia was informed, the plants were seized and sampled for subsequent technical checks.
Having completed the formalities, the arrested person was transferred to the Vibo Valentia prison in compliance with the provisions issued by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Vibo Valentia.
