Calabrian healthcare faces its daily pain inside hospitals. And it is precisely in the incandescent wards that few doctors become protagonists of daily gestures of heroism among beds that cannot be found, waiting lists on the metro, patients who flee towards the North, limited supplies and budgets in trouble. In that less visible corner, amidst the complaints and dismay of a healthcare system devoid of antibodies, humanity changes its appearance, modifies perception and behavior, and discovers the crisis of treatments and therapies. Due to its history, in Calabria, more than other regions, the numbers of pharmaceutical spending and medical devices become concrete presences, measurable in trolleys that arrive late, in stocks reduced to the bare bones, in purchasing tenders that empty because companies are no longer able to bear costs and risks.
