The modernization of the 106 Jonica state road was a long process that saw extraordinary collaboration between various municipalities in the provinces of Catanzaro and Crotone. One of the most ardent supporters of this project is without a doubt Fabio Bruno Pisciuneri who decided to tell this experience in his first novel “There, where everything began” signed by Edizioni Beroe.

The book that intends to keep alive the memory of his cousin Marcello, a young victim of Montalto Uffugo, recalls the story that inspired the implementation of the project for the 106. Its debut with the public took place in Crotone which welcomed the author with two meetings. On Monday 17 November the IIS “Pertini” experienced a series of poignant moments through the testimonies of the various people present. Monsignor Giuseppe Marra wanted to dedicate a prayer to the memory of road victims. The director Franco Laratta moderated the greetings of the director Anna Maria Maltese, the mayor of Crotone Vincenzo Voce, and the president of the Province Sergio Ferrari. The Honorable Wanda Ferro and Filippo Mancuso participated not in person, while ANAS, the traffic police, the author, the publisher Renato Costa and the AIFVS president Pina Cassaniti Mastrojeni spoke live. The latter experienced a further suggestive moment the following day when they met the director Anna Iannone and the students of IC Alcmeone who asked questions and presented group work on the roads in the school district.

«Thanks to Marcello’s story – declares the publisher – the Crotone public appreciated the value and fragility of life which can be extinguished in an instant. The story told by Fabio not only evokes its dramatic aspect but is transformed into hope. It becomes an invitation to live to improve the life of a community. One’s choices – concludes Costa – do not only influence our destiny but can enhance or destroy other lives”.
