The metropolitan mayor, Giuseppe Falcomatàparticipated in the inauguration of the XI edition of the National Festival of Law and Literature of Palmi opening the works which saw the singer-songwriter Claudio Baglioni, the writer Michele Caccamo and the judge Antonio Salvati discussing the topic “But what music is law? Creation and interpretation between rules and law”. Together with the mayor Falcomatà, the delegated metropolitan councilor and mayor of Palmi, Giuseppe Ranuccio, spoke at the “Manfroce” municipal theater.
«The title of the initiative intrigued me a bit – said Falcomatà – and when I saw that it was coordinated by Doctor Salvati, I understood what the synthesis was that combined, in some way, law and literature. This is an initiative that does not only speak to professionals, but combines important cultural aspects that reminded me of the words of another of our great fellow citizens and countrymen, Francesco Cilea, when he said that “art reveals to the hearts what no science reveals to the minds.” I think it's a phrase that fits very well with this event.”
In greeting and thanking Baglioni, the metropolitan mayor also spared a thought for Michele Caccamo who “honors his land without asking for anything in return”. «With his activity in the field of culture and poetry – he added – he manages to bring many personalities to Reggio and the entire area, helping us to convey a message of the three-thousand-year history of our territory far from what, unfortunately, often appears in the news of newspapers and television news”.
«Precisely for this reason – continued Giuseppe Falcomatà – we are honored and happy to sponsor a Festival which has the peculiarity of speaking to people and addressing issues related to social justice in an easily understandable and truly accessible way for everyone. The themes of social justice, justice in general and law must be able to reach a larger number of people and music is certainly an effective tool to achieve this objective.”
«This initiative – concluded the metropolitan mayor – is yet another demonstration of how much Palmi, in recent years, has recovered its history, its own identity, returning to represent that point of reference, in the cultural field, which it has always had on our territory. For this credit must be given to the municipal administration and to the mayor Giuseppe Ranuccio.”
