Writing immersed in nature stimulates the mind and promotes a profound connection with oneself and with the surrounding environment. With this awareness, The Hyle Book Festival, in collaboration with the Mabos – Museum of Art of the Sila Bosco, launches the second edition of the naturalistic writing residence in Calabria.
“In the landscape that dreams” is inspired by the theme of the dream that this summer will distinguish the literary festival, declining it from the point of view of the suggestions and naturalistic and landscape atmospheres. It will take place from 22 to 24 August, parallel to the fifth edition of the Festival, in the enchanting outdoor museum, at the gates of the Sila Catanzaro.
The residence will be marked by literary workshops which, in the morning session, will develop theoretical and practical focus of writing and reading, but also moments of comparison. In the afternoon session, however, the participants, led by the ideas provided by the teachers, will be able to devote themselves to the writing of their stories which, as already happened following the residence 2023 from which the “harmonies” collection was born published by Galileo Editore, will then be published and then presented in a round table to be held in autumn 2026.
To conduct the three days of residence of naturalistic writing, at the Mabos – Museo d’Arte del Bosco della Sila, will be Maurizio Amendola, writer and screenwriter as well as a collaborator professor at the Holden school and other narrative schools; Lorenza Stroppa, author and translator, editor of the Edicicolo publishing house, university professor of tourist publishing and at the school of travel; Peppe Millanta, writer, screenwriter and cultural popularizer, specialized at the Academy of Dramatic Art Silvio D’Amico, founder of the Macondo School – The workshop of the stories.
The call is aimed at people between 20 and 35 who wish to refine the art of narration, their expressive talent, one’s critical and observational ability. To participate in the announcement, interested parties will have to send to the email (email protected) A story of a maximum of 8000 jokes, inspired by the theme inspired by the nature and theme of the festival “The continuous dream”, accompanied by its own short presentation, by Sunday 20 July at 12 noon. Maximum twelve participants will be selected and will be able to access the laboratory path for free that will focus on the pen on narrative signals and sound footprints that inhabit the stories to be written, teaching to recognize the sounds that define the emotional geography as well as the collective memory of the story. They will analyze together the gears of the written stories, evaluating whether to start them or end up in another way, whether to add rhythm or to slow them down, but they will also deepen the importance of the dialogues that help characterize the characters, to calibrate twists and
