On May 25, 2025, the 138th anniversary of the birth of Padre Pio da Pietrelcina occursone of the most loved and invoked saints of our time. Born in 1887 in Pietrelcina, in a simple and deeply Christian family, Francesco Forgione – this is his name of baptism – has left an indelible imprint in the spiritual consciousness of millions of people. On the occasion of this important anniversary, a votive niche frescoed by the artist Salvatore Valentino will be inaugurated which welcomes the statue of the saint located at the lateral entrance of the “Annibale Maria di France” institute of the Rogationist Fathers. “A gesture full of meaning, which intends not only to honor the memory of the saint, but also to imitate it in the path of holiness: bring comfort, welcome and hope to those who live situations of difficulty or marginality”, said the director of the Father’s structure Adriano Inguscio. Tomorrow at 12.30 the religious community together with the devotees and friends of S. Pio will meet at the foot of the statue of S. Pio for a blessing. The life of San Pio was a journey of total abandonment to God, marked by suffering, by the gift of the stigmata, by the constant dedication to listening to penitents and from the intense celebration of the Eucharist. But in addition to extraordinary phenomena, what really affected him was the transparency of the soul, the radical humility, and the concrete charity towards those who suffered in body and spirit. “Surely this place – continues the priest – will be able to help many passers -by prayer who, as San Pio said, is the best weapon we have, a key that opens the heart of God. In a time when many seek responses in noise, this votive niche wants to be an open door on the mystery, an invitation to rediscover the beauty of the incarnated faith, lived in everyday life, through small gestures of love and perseverance”.
