On November 2, 2024, the Arci Nucleo Kubla Khan of Cosenza will open its doors for an evening full of art and culture on the occasion of membership for the new membership year 2024/2025. From 7.00 pm, the venue in Via Rivocati 63 will become the stage for an event which, through exhibitions, installations and shows, will offer participants a profound reflection on themes such as the sense of home, the power of memory and cultural heritage of great Italian intellectuals.

The evening will begin with the inauguration of the photographic exhibition “Temporary Shelters”curated by the photographic collective Zinée, already active in the Cosenza cultural scene thanks to the Fanzine Festival. The works on display explore the concept of “home” in a new and evocative meaning, no longer understood as a physical place, but as an ephemeral and intimate perception that can emerge anywhere, even far from the domestic walls. An invitation, therefore, to reflect on the flexibility and complexity of a universal and at the same time personal feeling.

Following this, at 8.00 pm, the visual installation will be presented “Almost Vadue” by Mattia Biondi, independent filmmaker and important figure in the panorama of Italian experimental cinema. The installation, curated by one of the founders of the Laterale Film Festival, explores the theme of memory through a journey to the places of the artist’s childhood, the Vadue neighbourhood. The work evokes the inexorable passage of time and the strength of memory in bringing to light the places of the past, giving them a new vitality.

The evening will culminate at 9.30pm with “The New Monsters”an intense monologue by and with Peppe Lanzetta dedicated to the figure of Pier Paolo Pasolini. Lanzetta, a successful actor and writer, will bring to the stage an original and powerful reflection on contemporary society, exploring the shadows and contradictions of the “new monsters” of our time. The monologue represents the fruit of the collaboration between the Arci Nucleo Kubla Khan and Punto J, Alessia Magliacane’s Neapolitan cultural project.

The event will be open exclusively to members of the association, with the possibility of signing up on site. The evening, through art and reflection, is proposed as an opportunity for meeting and growth for all those who believe in culture as a tool for cohesion and social transformation.
