Inflation in June rises to 1.7%: the cost of the shopping cart rises

In June 2025, the national consumer price index for the entire community (NIC), gross of tobacco, increases by 0.2% on May and 1.7% compared to June 2024 (from +1.6% recorded in the previous month)confirming the preliminary estimate. Istat notes it, specifying that the slight rise of last month has occurred above all due to the tendential acceleration of the prices of non -processed food goods ( +4.2% from +3.5%).

The tendential dynamics of the General Index, underlines Istat, mainly suffers from the acceleration of the prices of non -processed food goods (from +3.5% to +4.2%) and those of the transport services (from +2.6% to +2.9%), as well as the attention of the flexion of the prices of durable goods (from -1.1% to -0.8%). In the energy sector, on the other hand, the drop in prices is expanded (-2.1% from -2.0%) following the strong deceleration of those of the regulated component ( +22.6% from +29.3%).

The basic inflation, net of the energy and fresh food, accelerates (from +1.9%to +2%), while the one net of the energy goods only remains stable (to +2.1%). The tendential growth in the prices of goods is slightly accentuated (from +0.8% to +0.9%), as well as that of services (from +2.6% to +2.7%). The tendential rate of variation of the prices of high -frequency product products goes from +1.5% to +2%. By analyzing the trend of the general index compared to the previous month, the increase is mainly due to the prices of transport services (+1.1%), recreational, cultural and personal care services (+0.9%), processed food goods (+0.3%) and services relating to the home (+0.3%); On the other hand, the prices of regulated energy goods (-3.0%) and unregulated (-0.7%) and those of non-processed food goods (-0.4%) are decreased.

The inflation acquired for 2025 is equal to +1.4% for the general EA +1.8% index for the basic component. The national consumer price index for families of workers and employees (foi), net of tobacco, records an increase of 0.1% on May and 1.5% on June 2024, the harmonized one (IPCA) increases by 0.2% on May and 1.8% compared to June 2024 (from +1.7% of May). In the second quarter 2025 the consumer prices, measured by the IPCA, highlight higher increases for families with low spending levels (+2.0%) and relatively more contained for those with high expenditure levels (+1.8%).
