With the approval of article 37 of the Sicilian financial law, young couples will be able to benefit from incentives and the total elimination of interest on mortgages for the recovery and redevelopment of properties in the historic centers of the island. Regional deputies Riccardo Gennuso and Luisa Lanteri of Forza Italia and Carlo Auteri of Christian Democracy say this, commenting on the measure, “strongly wanted and supported by President Schifani”.
Measure aimed at couples under 35 with an ISEE of up to 40 thousand euros
The total elimination of interest on mortgages up to 300 thousand euros concerns the restoration, recovery and redevelopment of the historic building heritage. “It is a measure of great social and economic value – highlights Gennuso – because it puts young people, families and those who choose to stay or return to invest in Sicily at the centre.” For Lanteri, it is a “concrete tool to restore life and dignity to historic centres, too often abandoned or forgotten”. According to Auteri, “the enhancement of historic centers is a strategic priority to combat depopulation and relaunch local communities”. The measure is aimed at couples under 35, with an ISEE of up to 40 thousand euros, who intend to purchase their first home and commit to residing there permanently. Incentives are also provided for the energy efficiency of properties, with the aim of reaching classes A1-A4, and for anti-seismic safety.
