In his speech, representing the Ministry of the Interior, Undersecretary Iron highlighted the strategic importance of international cooperation, in a context in which the threats are increasingly hybrid, furniture and sophisticated: “Our country has built an advanced system in the last thirty years to hit the illicit assets of the mafias. In his speech, Undersecretary Iron also warned against the Shopping Forum, the phenomenon for which criminals choose the less rigid systems to commit crimes and protect their illicit heritage. Iron then recalled the need for an integrated and multilivelo approach to the contrast of organized crime, aimed not only at the dismantling of the criminal leaders, but also to the protection of vulnerable people and the confiscation of illicit profits, including cryptocurrencies.

In this context it is crucial to strengthen cooperation with Latin America and the Caribbean, an objective that Italy pursues for some time through the enhancement of the ability of the skills. Italy has therefore proposed the creation of a permanent technical-operational task force in the framework of the Latin and Caribbean Biregionale EU-America cooperation, dedicated to the analysis of threats, to technological interoperability, the stable exchange of operational staff.
