All as expected (or almost) on the central of the Foro Italico: JAnnik Sinner goes to the round of 16 of the International Tennis Internationals by beating the Dutch Lucky Loser Jasper de Jong in two sets with a score of 6-4 6-2. The difference between the two is clear, also certified by the ATP ranking – Sinner number 1 and the Dutch number 93 of the world – yet Sinner, after in the start of sprint with two breaks and a partial of 4 games at 1, then had a small assignment, probably thanks to the great heat, the wind and a condition yet not optimal: it has lost twice the service allowing the opponent to bring to the first set in the first set. Then the new tear and first set conquered from South Tyrolean with a score of 6-4. In the second, drumming start with long and very tense exchanges. A game certainly not beautiful that however satisfied the audience present who crowded in every order of mail on the central. Audience that, unlike Saturday, was much less noisy and participating. Few slogans for Sinner and very few encouragement for the sample. An almost respectful audience of the poor De Jong, a willing Palletto for forced to defend himself from Sinner’s deadly shots to respond to which he ended ruinously twice on the ground, also forced to resort to the intervention of the physiotherapist on 3-2 for Sinner in the second set. Precisely because of the second injury, the Dutchman has practically stopped playing thus allowing Sinner to win the 6-2 set. Today at the Foro Italico the T -shirts with the word “The slap of God” and on the field were the borders of straight and backhand, the “slap of God”, in fact, the extra weapon of Sinner in a game in which, at least in the first set, the service did not witness him. In the round of 16, for irony of fate, the Argentine Francisco Cerundolo will find with which he lost, in the round of 16, in his last participation in Rome in 2023.
