“I decided to start with the political activity of the new year by carrying out an inspection at the “House of Legality Piersanti Mattarella” in Isola Capo Rizzuto, the scene of an unfortunate, deplorable event a few days ago. The structure, handed over to the “Valentia” Association “by the National Agency for Assets Seized and Confiscated to Crime (Anbsc), was vandalized by the ‘Ndrangheta, who wanted to symbolically strike the desire for redemption of this territory and this community. I was able to see with my own eyes the subsequent devastation to this raid which has made impracticable, for now, what will be a social gathering centre, with a library and study rooms especially for the younger ones”. The regional councilor made this known Ernesto Alecci.
!In addition to bringing my solidarity to the representatives and the President of the Association The White, I wanted, in fact, to give a strong signal – he continued – by simultaneously presenting a motion in the Regional Council so that the Regional Council can immediately commit, without wasting time, part of the resources dedicated to the assets confiscated from the mafia for the renovation of this building. We must be protagonists of a strong and immediate response to crime, to say once again that the State is there, it is also present in difficult and complicated territories, and that the ‘ndrangheta sucks and must be fought and opposed in every way possible.”
The Mayor of Isola Capo Rizzuto participated in the inspection together with Alecci Maria Grazia Vittimberga“who I intend to thank for his availability and for the actions he will implement in favor of this ambitious project”, and the leader of the Democratic Party in the City Council, Gaspare Cavaliere. “What happened – concluded Alecci – certainly represents a hard blow, which, however, must absolutely not stop the implementation of the initial project. I hope, therefore, that also thanks to the motion presented already in the next few weeks, important contributions will arrive to resume and conclude the works on this structure, which can thus become a place and a symbol of redemption not only for Isola Capo Rizzuto and for the Province of Crotone, but for all of Calabria”.
