IT Leonardo Da Vinci is also a protagonist at the Milazzo Film Festival in Milazzo with “The Nuns' Olive Grove”

The Itet Leonardo Da Vinci of Milazzo will once again be a protagonist in the cinematographic field with participation in the Milazzo Film Festival, which will take place this year at the Trifiletti Theater in the Mamertine city from today 29 February to 3 March. In fact, the school has recently produced and entirely created the film 'The Nuns' Oliveto', winner of the Cinema per la Scuola 2022 tender. After its first screening, the film received an excellent reception from the public, of the media and critics. Thanks to the organization of Milazzo Film, the feature film will be screened during the Festival on March 3rd. The students will participate during the event today 29 February at 11:00 in a new educational format for all schools, designed by the organization of the Milazzo Film Festival in collaboration with the Giffoni Festival. The contest in which the students will be present is called “I love my planet” and is focused on environmental issues. It is an interactive show to discuss topics related to the contemporary world and the world of youth with students. After watching various thematic video content, the students will be involved in improvisation challenges, puzzle solving, questionnaires and interactive mini-labs aimed at creating video content in real time, followed at every stage by the Giffoni team.


On the last day of the Festival the film “L'Oliveto delle nuns” will be screened, created thanks to the contributions of the Ministry of Education and Merit and the Ministry of Culture, and also presented in Rome at the Farnese Cinema. The Mamertine school is was chosen in the 'Visioni Fuori Luogo' section, as part of the national cinema and images plan for schools. The feature film was written and directed by Luciangela Gatto, who decided to combine professionals from the audiovisual world with students, teachers and school staff from every sector of the production chain. The film saw the participation of students as actors Giada Giordano, Francesco Iarrera, Giovanni Giuffrè, Aurora Grasso, Salvo Cappellano, Chiara Barbagallo, Domenico Barba, Giuseppe Pollicina, Mariadele Martinez, Giada Vadalà. Director of photography was Nunzio Gringeri, editing by Flavio Ricci, production: ITET “Leonardo da Vinci” of Milazzo, general organization by professors Rosa Gagliani and Antonio Patti, Production Manager: director Stefania Scolaro.

The film tells of a group of students who are preparing to make their career choices and who will have to make important decisions. Four young people for various reasons will find themselves entangled in the dispute over a large olive grove belonging to the Madonnella del Monte monastery where there is the Superior Arcangela who has been trying for some time to keep at bay the claims of a local entrepreneur, Don Pasqualino La Torre, who would like to transform the monastery and olive grove into a large luxury resort for foreign guests. The making of the film accompanied the teaching activity of the entire 2022/2023 school year of Leonardo Da Vinci, which has become an example of a permanent school-laboratory through the extraordinary opportunity to make a film with the criteria and tools of mainstream professional activity, thanks to the activity of sector professionals who supported students and teachers at every stage of the implementation process.
