The Pope once again expressed his hope that Christians could celebrate Easter on the same date. He said this in the audience with the group ‘Easter Together’.
«I congratulate you and encourage you to continue, especially because this expresses the desire not to let the important opportunity that the 2025 offers us – said Pope Francis -. Next year, in fact – which for the Catholic Church will be ordinary jubilee -, the celebration of Easter, due to the coincidence of the calendars, will be common for all Christians. It is an important sign, to which is added the 1700th anniversary of the celebration of the first Ecumenical Council, that of Nicaeawhich, in addition to promulgating the symbol of faith, also dealt with the issue of the date of Easter, due to the different traditions that already existed at that time. On more than one occasion I have been called upon to seek a solution to this question, so that the common celebration of the day of the Resurrection is no longer an exception, but becomes the norm. I therefore encourage those who are committed to this journey to persevere and to make every effort to seek a possible communion, avoiding everything that could instead lead to further divisions between brothers”, concluded the Pontiff.
