“Justice and truth for Sissy”. This is the cry launched by the Teatro Costabile of Lamezia Terme as part of the event organized by the “Per Te” association in memory of Sissy Trovato Mazza on the anniversary of the day in which she was found in the elevator shaft of the civil hospital in Venice lying on the floor with a gunshot to the head.

During the evening hosted by theater director Tiziana De Matteo with insights from journalist Tiziana Bagnato, the judicial story of the very young penitentiary police officer, originally from Taurianova, who passed away on 12 January 2019 after two years in a coma, was reconstructed.

An unclear story that of Sissy’s death characterized by four requests for dismissal by the Venice Prosecutor’s Office rejected by the investigating judge. The umpteenth opposition presented by the family’s lawyers will be discussed shortly. Since that tragic first November 2016, they have fought to ensure that the case is not closed as a suicide, but that the investigations are investigated further, exploring the murder hypothesis.

Of the numerous non-linear elements identified in this sad story, Tiziana Bagnato discussed with the Rai journalist Edoardo Lucarelli who for years has been reporting on the pain of Sissy’s family and the judicial and journalistic advances. Also speaking were the parliamentarian Stefania Ascari who presented a question on the topic and the president of Adicosp sports directors and collaborators as well as Fids president, Alfonso Morrone, who dedicated an award at the Adicosp Woman Football Grand Gala to Sissy, winner of the title of Italian 5-a-side football champion with Pro Reggina in 2012.

Sissy’s family is moved but firm in their battle. Father Salvatore, mother Caterina and sister Patrizia have launched their appeal to ensure that the curtain does not fall on the matter but that the spotlight is kept on. Firmly convinced that their daughter did not commit suicide, the family is fighting for the case to be opened.

Various artistic performances of the evening were brought to the stage by the young students of the School of Singing and Scenic Arts A Regola d’Arte who interpreted the poems of Laura Iamundo and Giuseppe De Biase, as well as danced to the song “Rosa Stella” by Antonio Donatello Di Nicola.

Manager Rosaria Scaramuzzino interpreted the monologue dedicated to the young prison police officer written by Mafalda Daniele. Closing the evening was the performance of the artist Sonia Talarico who created a painting dedicated to Sissy on the stage.

Present at the event were councilor Antonietta D’Amico for the sponsoring Municipality of Lamezia Terme, the Commander of the Carabinieri Company of Lamezia Terme Augusto Petrocchi, Marshal Giancarlo Scibetta, the Chief Commissioner of the State Police of Lamezia Terme Federica Licastro, Inspector Bruno Palmiero for the Municipal Police.
